I’ve always believed that we are all given special gifts; these talents and abilities make us unique from one another, and also shape our purpose in life.  I believe true success lies in being able to utilize our talents and abilities to create positive impact for others…leaving the world a better place.  We utilize these gifts in our families, supporting one another, raising children, and taking care of those we love most. I’ve been blessed with an incredible family; wonderful parents, a loving husband, amazing children, and now a new grandson.   Being able to create a loving home for my family is the most important role I’ve ever had, and I cherish it every day.  We also use our gifts in the workplace, hopefully applying our knowledge and abilities to help others be successful.  My career has allowed me to work in finance, communications, health and safety and human resources.  Despite my very different roles, at the heart of all my efforts is creating success for the people I work with and those that I work for.

And lastly, we can use our gifts to support our communities and the world at large.  This is where my passion for communications and my desire to help people come together to create a whole new journey:  inspiring others through storytelling.

While I’ve always been inspired by books and loved to write, I have not had the opportunity to focus on this passion until now.  My first attempt at writing is based on my own experiences as a woman; navigating an exciting and sometimes challenging world, seeking to find success and fulfillment.  I’ve observed that, while unique, women share many common bonds and perspectives;  the instinct to nurture and support those around us; often putting ourselves last, and the innate desire to grow and succeed, yet often struggling to be seen or heard.  While some of these challenges arise from the perspectives of society and those around us, in some cases they are rooted in our own biases. Therefore, my vision for my first series of books, “Girl in the World”, is to help young girls to identify and confront these biases, early on, overcome them and move forward with confidence.  Self-awareness is key to growth, and these stories, starting with Mara and her Shoes, seek to help young girls have “a-ha” moments, overcome their own biases, and get out of their own way!  I hope you will embark on this journey of self-discovery along with me, and invite other girls, young and old, along the way.  Together, we will support one another in becoming the best version of ourselves!
